About Us:

Newspapers in south Grant County have a history of being family owned and operated. The Sun, (which was formerly the Royal Review, and before that, the Royal Banner) have been owned by families who lived and worked in this area—not some outside corporation.

We believe the communities in south Grant County deserve a strong legal newspaper that will keep the public informed as well as promote our schools, agriculture, local people and businesses.

About the publishers:

Lisa Leitz was raised in Colorado. She graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in English and received a Master of Fine Arts in fiction writing from Eastern Washington University in 1991. She has edited two novels, The Words of Bernfrieda, a Chronicle of Hauteville and Changing Course: One Woman’s Journey With the Merchant Marines (both available on Amazon.com). She worked as a reporter for eight years for the Royal Review in south Grant County before buying the paper in 2002. She enjoys gardening, reading, and eating food that someone else cooks (even if it’s one of her three boys doing the cooking).

Phillip Leitz was raised in Mattawa, Washington. He graduated from Eastern Washington University with a degree in English 1984 and has worked as a field consultant in south Grant County for the past 14 years. He has served as the Mayor of Royal City and has been on the Grant County Economic Development Council and the Washington State Pesticide Board. He also graduated from the Washington Agriculture & Forestry Leadership Program in 2003. Phillip enjoys cooking, woodworking, covering sports, camping, and listening to his wife’s ideas about how he could be more organized.
